This headquarters embodies those values and will allow us to serve more people, develop wholesale partnerships, and build stronger relationships with our neighbors, friends and north shore community.

The Fika story
Fika Coffee is built on generosity. Years ago, a $15,000 donation with no strings attached helped launch the business, shaping it into what it is today: a roastery focused on community, connection, and quality. Coffee isn’t just a product—it’s a way to bring people together, spark conversation, and create opportunities.
The Swedish tradition of "fika" is about pausing, sharing coffee, and connecting with others—an idea that guides everything Fika Coffee does. Its mission is simple: to cultivate beauty through its work. That means crafting excellent coffee, fostering meaningful relationships, and supporting the North Shore community. Fika’s journey began in a humble shed, where coffee was roasted with care and intention long before the café in Lutsen opened its doors. Since then, Fika has created a space where strangers become friends over a shared love of coffee.
Now, as it grows, the company is building a new roastery in Grand Marais to continue roasting high-quality coffee and deepening its commitment to the region. Every cup served, every conversation shared, and every decision made reflects a commitment to intentionality and generosity—because small moments can lead to lasting change.

Construction will be complete late-Summer 2025.
But we need your help to purchase the furnishings, the equipment, all the things that help turn this building into a home. -
Not entirely, we will have a small “coffee lab” with a smaller espresso bar and the ability to do pop-up events but it won’t operate like the cafe in Lutsen.

The cafe in Lutsen will stay where it is it is still a very important part of Fika.
One reason we are building the roastery in Grand Marais, is to open up more space for the cafe.

The construction of the building has all been paid for. So the donations collected here will be used for all of the furnishings, equipment in the roastery, the coffee lab, etc.

We’re hoping to send out rewards in batches to help on costs. Once we reach thresholds for printing we will ship them out.
